A Victorian silver-gilt mourning locket. The obverse decorated with an engraved garter centered by a cartouche, the reverse decorated with an engraved ribbed band. Containing two compartments both set with hair work under glass. Circa 1865. Measurements, north to south 1 3/4", west to east just under 1 3/8". North to south ( including bale ) 2 1/4". Condition, Very Good, a few surface marks consistent with age. The silver has been acid tested as sterling silver. An unusual locket.
