A Mid-Victorian sterling silver basket. The whole decorated with pierced work . The rim and handle decorated with ribbing and the foot decorated with engraved-hatched trefoils. The bowl contains a blue glass liner. CW monogram.Hallmarks for Birmingham 1861-62. Maker's mark CW. Measurements, bowl diameter 6 3/8". Foot diameter 3". North to south 4". North to south of handle 3 1/4". Weight of silver, approximately 210 grammes. Condition, Very Good. The blue glass liner is darker than it appears in the photograph.
