A 15ct gold early Victorian "Forget Me Not" brooch. Cartouche shaped repousse work body, with turquoise forget me not flower centre, with leaf and tendril surround. The reverse set with a glass bezel containing two pieces of different coloured hair on a silk background. Circa 1840. Measurements, west to east, just under 1, 3/8". North to south, just over 1". Condition, Very Good, one of the wire tendrils has a small break, though this only visible under magnification. The gold has been acid tested as 15ct. This is a charming little early Victorian brooch in almost excellent condition. The forget me not flower motif was particularly popular in the 1830s-40s, when the 19th century taste for the language of flowers was at its height.
