A Victorian locket. Made of sterling silver, rectangular shape, the obverse decorated with an engraved aesthetic Japanese influence scene bordered by a crenalated and bead edge. The reverse plain. The interior containing two photographic compartments with steel bezels. Circa 1885. Measurements, height 1 15/16" ( just under 5 cm ), width 1 1/4" ( 3.1 cm ). Height including suspension loop 2 3/8" ( 6 cm ), weight approximately 28 grams. Condition. Very Good. The original glass has been replaced by Perspex. The silver has been acid tested as sterling silver. A good example of a locket from the late Victorian aesthetic period.
