A Georgian floral brooch. Made of 9ct set with foiled garnets. Designed as a flower head above a crescent with scrolling tendrils. Circa 1770. Measurements, height ( just over ) 1" ( 2.6 cm ). Width ( just over ) 1 1/2" ( 3.9 cm ). Condition, Good. A very good quality repair to the upper edge of the brooch ( to strengthen the top where a couple of the wire work tendril stems have become separated ). The gold has been acid tested as 9ct gold. A charming floral brooch dating from the third quarter of the 18th century. Garnet set floral jewellery comprising flower heads and scrolling tendrils was in vogue during the latter half of the 18th century.
