A Georgian fichu ( lace pin ) brooch. Made of 9ct gold, the obverse decorated with a blue enamel plaque set with a silver and diamond forget-me-not flower framed by a double border of grey and cream coloured seed pearls. The reverse set with a glazed compartment and annulet for attaching a safety chain. Circa 1830. Measurements, length 1 1/16" ( 2.7 cm ), width ( just over ) 3/4" ( 2 cm ), depth ( excluding pin ) 1/4" ( 6 mm ). Condition, Very Good. A small chip to a corner of the glass. The gold has been acid tested as 9ct gold. This brooch was probably either an amatory or mourning gift.
