An 1830s fob seal. Made of 9ct cased gold. Decorated with chased foliage and ribbing. Set with chalcedony engraved with the initials MD. Circa 1835. Measurements, height 1 5/16" ( 3.3 cm ), width ( just over ) 13/16" ( 2.1 cm ), depth ( just under ) 11/16" ( 1.7 cm ). Condition, Very Good. The gold casing has been acid tested as 9ct gold.
