For your consideration a really lovely Art Deco Brass and Prosser Bead Sautoir Necklace. This is such a great find from the 1900-1920's. The necklace is a very wearable 34 in length with an additional 4 1/2 in on the drop portion. The Prosser beads are in cobalt blue, they are the statement piece of the necklace. They measure 20 mm and are so pretty. There are also brass pierced stations that measure 3/4 in by 1/4 in. The closure is a thumb ring clasp. Don't miss adding this wonderful piece to your Deco collection.
Prosser" beads are by extension any beads made by the "Prosser" technique, invented by the Prosser brothers in 1840 in England for the purpose of making buttons. The process consists of molding a cold paste under great pressure and then firing it. The finished product looks like porcelain and is often referred to as such.
Circa-1900-1920 Condition-Previously worn with little wear. Nice patina to the brass and no damage to the glass beads. Note that the beads are not attached to the brass section and are not meant to be. They "float" so that when the necklace is worn they can move with the design of the piece. Signed-NO
