Those of you who know us at Divine Finds KNOW that we don't sell created or synthetic gemstones. We pride ourselves in offering rare and fine natural earth-grown gemstones to those of you looking for something extra special!
So why, you ask, are we now offering this lab-created Alexandrite ring? Well, of course there's a story, and without getting too long-winded, simply, we got caught and purchased this ring as 'natural' Alexandrite, only to get suspicious several months later when we noticed certain inclusions that you SHOULDN'T see in natural Alexandrite. Knowing inside that this Alex was likely synthetic, we took it to our trusted gemologist who confirmed, via appraisal, that indeed, she's lab-created. Oh the disappointment, and it was too far past any chance for us to return the ring. For nearly 2 years now, she has sat alone, locked away in the safe never seeing the light of day.
And then suddenly it just hit us: WHY is she not being worn? After all, she's ridiculously beautiful, and unlike so many big & bulky 'faux' Alexandrite pieces one can find online, this gorgeous 'Alexandrite' is natural in size and showcases a superb color-change from very natural appearing bluish-green hue to brilliant violet-purple. AND it's actually set in real, acid-tested 14kt yellow & white gold with natural diamonds all around! No wonder we thought we'd found a superior Alexandrite!
Now of course, being lab-created, we won't and can't expect to offer her for more than our cost, so the price you see here is what our cost is, and what you can own this stunner for! If owning an Alexandrite is something you long for, but is simply not in your budget, this darling is absolutely the next best thing! She's very successfully fooled us - and we've sold numerous natural Alexandrite over the years.
Per the appraisal - yes - she's appraised at $2,550.00 CAD ($1950 USD), the lab-created Alexandrite measures 8.50 x 6.00 x 4.20mm oval-cut, weighing approximately 1.65ct, with eye-clean clarity. Our pictures show that vivid and strong color-change!
Channel-set in the sides of the ring are both round brilliant and tapered baguette diamonds, totaling 0.36ct combined. There are 16 rounds and 6 baguettes, averaging eye-clean Si2-I1 clarity and white F-G-H color. The appraisal notes the band is stamped 14kt, however we can't find the mark, however, it's guaranteed to be no less than 14kt, as it's been acid-tested.
Currently a sizable US size 6.50 - 6.75.
Before we knew the Alex wasn't natural, we had a new head built to hold the gem, as the old one was simply too worn to hold the stone safely. Additionally, we had the diamonds tightened up their channels as that gold too had worn. Clearly, the ring was well loved - perhaps by another who simply couldn't afford the real thing.
All that said, perhaps it means nothing at all whether this beauty is natural or not. Maybe you just LOVE the look and that color-change and want to show her off tomorrow!! If so, she's all yours - and she's truly quite fascinating!
**AT OUR COST - we cannot go lower on price. Thank You for your consideration.
