The only one of its kind, from my exclusive personal collection, here is a beyond-breathtaking GIA Certified Paraiba tourmaline and diamond ring. There are few words I can use to describe the exquisite nature of this incredible, rare gemstone and its eye-popping setting. OFFERS CONSIDERED!
Certified by the GIA, the pièce de résistance in this ring of course is the brilliantly vivid 6.84ct cushion-cut "copper & manganese bearing" Paraiba tourmaline, measuring 15.30 x 7.87 x 7.65mm and melting hearts at every glance. The colour captured in our pictures, though true to its likeness, just doesn't fully reveal the incredible depth & saturation of this highly rare & valuable gem. It is like looking into the most glorious Caribbean blue-green waters, and radiates just like the sun dancing on those waters. Unlike numerous other Paraiba tourmaline gems we have seen, this treasure is NOT at all hazy/cloudy, nor does it obviously possess eye-visible inclusions that detract from its appearance. It does however contain the most important 'mineral inclusions' that give it its 'Paraiba' classification: copper & manganese. In order for tourmaline to be given the 'Paraiba' status, it must come from either Paraiba, Brazil, or contain significant copper inclusions which give these gems a particularly bright 'neon' color. Looking into and within this amazing example of Paraiba tourmaline unveils a wonderland of copper streaking throughout the gem. According to the GIA report, 'evidence that may confirm heating is typically lacking'.
Set 'within', as in 'almost in its own little cage' of 18kt white & yellow gold, the tourmaline is surrounded by a total of 20 bezel-cup set diamonds. Four of these diamonds are big enough to be solitaires themselves, each measuring around 4.30mm round, or about 0.315ct each, for a combined weight of 1.26ct. They grade no less than VVS to VS clarity and I-J color. The additional 16 round brilliant cut diamonds measure 2.40 - 2.50mm each, or about 0.05ct each, totaling 0.86ct, also with excellent VS-SI clarity and H-I color. The diamond carat weight is 2.12ct total. The bezel-setting is a step beyond a normal bezel, holding the diamonds like a cup, with the gold bezel looking like a halo around each diamond, adding to the blinding light show the diamonds cast. As you can see in our pictures, these diamonds are full of fiery scintillation!
The setting, stamped '18k' and made of both yellow and white gold is not for the faint of heart. With a tourmaline this size, and the large accent diamonds, the setting is grandiose. Weighing a heavy 13.40 grams, the ring sits a good centimeter above the ringer, and measures over an inch end to end. A ring that cannot be missed, the sides are decorated with millegrain-edged hearts and swirls that allow light in and out of the tourmaline at all angles so it can always beam its electric color in all lighting.
Currently a US size 5 3/4, this ring should be easily sizable in the hands of a skilled and trustworthy jeweler. With a gem this marvelously rare, be sure to know your jeweler beforehand. A tighter fit is advised, or perhaps sizing balls placed on the inside of the ring as the ring is top heavy and can roll sideways if too large. A nice snug fit keeps her in place atop your finger for all of the world to see! And SEE they will! There's simply no missing this magnificent jewel.
