Exquisitely fine quality and in spectacular show-room condition, here is one gorgeous diamond engagement ring and wedding band set. Accompanied by the original GIA grading report dated from 1974 for "Cartier, Inc., New York", if quality is what you're looking for in an engagement ring set, look no further.
Recently inspected and certified with a Retail Replacement Value of $21,550.00 CAD (what you could expect to pay 'new' in today's market), this superb estate find holds a whopping 2.61ct of very fine, very white diamonds, all encased in highly polished 18kt white gold.
The central diamond solitaire, certified July 25th, 1974 by the GIA and for Cartier, New York (Report #NY681476) weighs exactly 0.73ct, grading VS2 clarity, G color with a 'very good' cut. It is blindingly fiery, absolutely clean to the eye and in perfect condition. On either side of the round brilliant diamond is a channel-set baguette cut diamond weighing approximately 0.125ct with VS1-Si1 clarity and G-H color, and a further 36 bead-set round brilliant cut diamonds and 2 tiny accent diamonds forming an 'infinity' figure-8 pattern. These smaller diamonds grade VS-SI clarity, G-H color, and again, very good cuts.
The wedding band, made in accompaniment to the engagement ring, is an absolutely perfect fit, also holding round and baguette cut diamonds. With 3 main baguette-cuts, the central baguette cut weighs 0.27ct, grading VVS2 clarity and I color. Just as with the engagement ring, the 2 further baguette cuts are 0.125ct each and VS1-Si1 clarity/G-H color, and the 14 round brilliants VS-SI clarity and G-H color.
In total, ALL the diamonds add up to 2.61ct, with brilliant scintillation and life. The quality in the craftsmanship of these rings is outstanding. We've never offered a finer wedding set - QUALITY all the way!
An estate find, when we acquired this ring, the auction house personally informed us that this Cartier set had been considerably sized by its former owner due to her small hands, and the Cartier hallmarks were lost in the sizing process. The 18kt mark on the wedding band remains, and remnants of what appears to be a serial code or writing seems to exist on the engagement ring, however, we can't say for certain. However, the GIA certificate (and a 2nd duplicate copy) is original to the ring set, which as pointed out, was performed for CARTIER, Inc. New York on 5th Avenue (New York's diamond district!), and the rings in every way point toward Cartier craftsmanship.
Due to the sizing (currently a US Size 5.75 to 6 approximately: 16.20-16.50mm inner diameter), and the fact the hallmarks have been lost in that process, we are not asking what one could if all the Cartier marks were existing. However, as the GIA report is original and will accompany the ring set, we are confident in naming Cartier for the engagement ring 0.73ct diamond solitaire.
In any case, if you're on the hunt for a very well-made, high-end and valuable ring set, this is absolutely THAT set. It is truly stunning, breathtaking and built to last. Thank you for looking!
