This is one glowy ruby!! From the corundum family, both 'sapphire' and 'ruby' are deemed 'corundum mineral', often even mined together. However, the one major determining factor of what separates the two is color, and when we say color, we mean RED. While sapphire is found in just about every color under the sun (pink, green, blue, yellow, brown, orange, purple and more), Ruby can only be called "Ruby" when the dominant color is red. It can have secondary hues, such as 'pinkish red' or 'purplish red', but red ('R') must be the overall color grade when classifying corundum as Ruby.

And here we have one gorgeous red ruby, all natural, unheated and very showy! Weighing 1.33ct, and measuring 7.61 x 5.87 x 3.42mm oval-cut, while with some inclusions, these natural growth 'birthmarks' help determine the unheated nature of this gem. To get color like this without any treatment, is, well, a treat, and she's just beautiful au naturel! Graded with "medium dark, strong, slightly purplish red color (GIA slpR 6/5)", the ruby is accompanied by a gem certificate as well as appraisal, which you will receive with purchase.

The 18kt white gold mounting holds both princess and round-brilliant cut diamonds, all fine quality and accenting the ruby perfectly. The princess cut diamonds each measure approximately 2.50 x 2.50mm, for an estimated carat weight of 0.10ct per diamond (0.20ct combined). They grade excellent VS1 clarity, with white F-G color and good cuts. The round brilliant diamonds, 8 in total, run 4 per side of the shank, and each measure around 2.05mm, or 0.0325ct each, for a total of 0.26ct. They grade clean Si1 to Si2 clarity, with white G-H color and also have 'good' cuts. Combined, the diamonds total 0.46ct.

The gallery of the ring is detailed with lovely heart-shaped cut-outs and swirls of gold. Clearly marked with both 18k and 750, and weighing 3.90g, the ring is in excellent condition with possible evidence of former resizing, though we can't be certain. Currently the ring is a US size 6 to 6.25 (inner diameter 16.57 to 16.67mm). Sizing should be possible up or down without issue, but please always inquire about sizing before placing your order so we can verify with our jeweler.
