This is an absolutely fabulous example of the lost art of hairwork jewelry - English, tests 15 carat gold, set with seed pearls. Worked in chestnut brown hair - the brooch is comprised of little "pillows" of hair, each as tightly woven as the day it was made - looks like lace! Center has six lustrous little seed pearls. Old "c" clasp on reverse. One little "pillow" is compressed a little - not a big deal but wanted to mention it for accuracy. Two delicate matching earrings make up the rest of the set - also done in 15 carat gold. EXCELLENT condition, nice and tight, both crowned with a seed pearl.
Brooch measures 1.75 inches across, earring hang 1 inch from ear hole. Probably dates from around 1875, one of the nicest sets I've seen in a long time. Price is for the set. Free shipping - you pay insurance.
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: gold/brown, Size: 2 inches
