From a local estate, here is an interesting old Catholic holy medal commemorating the 1925 Holy Year announce by Pope Pius XI. During that year, the Pope wished to direct the attention of the faithful to the work of the missions. People were asked to pray for the intentions of the Pope, which was lasting peace among all peoples. Depicts center portrait of His Holiness, surrounded by images of St. Peter's in Rome and other churches. On the back is Christ and the Virgin Mary, an image of the Pope opening the Holy door to start the Holy Year, and supplicants lifting up their prayers to Heaven. I don't see a Sterling mark, so I am selling as silverplate. It will polish up, but I have left much of the natural patina. Measures 1 inch across. An attractive, hard to find piece.
