I found this beauty on London's famed Portobello Road. Large magnifying glass with excellent magnification - antler handle, sterling silver ferrule (hallmarked Sheffield, 1941), figural cap at end featuring a hunting dog with a game bird (probably a pheasant) in his mouth. Glass is new, of course, in a nickel frame. A very tactile, impressive piece, measuring about 10 inches long. Glass is 4 inches across. A very handsome desk or library accessory for anyone who enjoys the country or sporting life.
