Found on London's famed Portobello Road, here is an absolutely charming antique French silver menu or place card holder. If you look at the top edge you will see the tiny hallmarks - has the Minerva mark - believe this to be 950 silver (higher than sterling). Ridged border with overlaid "ribbons." Contains an original watercolor of a still life of red fruit on a bed of straw and foliage - beautifully handpainted - bears the artist signature "Lemaitre." Glass front. I found another identical example in a database that said this was made in Paris by famous French silversmith Puiforcat. Slightly fan shaped with a rounded top. Measures a little over 2 1/4 inches across at widest point, 1.5 inches tall. Weighs about 40.6 grams. Excellent condition. I will include the printout I made from the website I accessed when I mail to the new owner. An exquisite addition to your collection - dates from about 1900.
