Fresh from a New Orleans estate, here is a wonderful antique (patented 1905) metal Vienna Art Plate depicting the rescue of Captain John Smith by Indian maiden Pocahontas. This plate was issues to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, Virginia. Measures 10 inches across, fully marked on reverse. Minor wear (age appropriate) on the front, more on the back (see photos) - still looks great on the front, fine for display. These were designed for decorative purposes only. The settlement of Jamestown predated the arrival of the Mayflower by over 10 years, and it is considered quite a coup to be able to trace your ancestry to one of the original settlers. A scarce commemorative, priced according to the condition.
