Wonderful sauceboat and underplate from the aesthetic era, done in brown transferware with gold trim. This is the Osborne pattern, which features a sail boat at sea with seagulls and other nature scenes. This was done by J.H. Davis Potteries in Staffordshire, England. Underplate has a registry mark that dates the piece to 1884. Underplate is 8.75 inches wide, sauceboat is 2.75 inches tall, or 4 inches at tallest point. There are two small very old fleabites under the rim of the sauce boat (does not show when displayed). Interior of sauceboat has some age appropriate crazing and a hairline at the bottom that does not go through and appears to be under the glaze.
