Fresh from a New Orleans estate, here is an interesting painting done on velvet and then mounted on cardboard in the original frame. It is a French Quarter patio scene (probably the famous Brulator Courtyard) and is rather well executed. It is signed M.L. Minyard and dated 1933. In checking the New Orleans census for 1930, there is only one person who fits this description - Mayme L. Minyard, who was the 29 year old wife of Thomas B. Minyard, a manager for an oil company. This couple lived on Soniat Street, in the uptown section of New Orleans. Piece measures 18 inches wide and 12 inches tall.
