Here is a substantial set of six mahogany Chippendale Style chairs with two armchairs and four sides. The carved "Ribbon Backs" feature the classic shell in the center, a curl down the side and beading outlining the ribbons weaving on the center splat. The legs are ball and claw style with carved acanthus leaves on the knees. A shell carving is featured on the front of the seat. These chairs arrived with a set of hand needlepoint upholstering the seats. Some of the seats show a slight slump in the middle, but they are all intact, clean and sound. The seats can be re-upholstered in your fabric for an additional cost, if you choose. Chairs of this weight and detail were made by the Flint Company of NYC around the turn of the Century but we could find no labels on the frames. These are also known as a Colonial Revival Style Chair.
