Antique French Advertising Postcard 'Gala Peter Le Soleil' (The Sunflower) 1904.
Stamped and franked 1904 and sent to an address in Belgium, this lovely Antique Art Nouveau advertising postcard has an un-divided back.
Featuring a beautifully artistic design by an unnamed artist, it is issued to advertise Gala Peter, a Swiss brand of chocolate licensed to the Nestle company and named after it's originator, a Swiss chocolateur..Daniel Peter.
All the Gala Peter adverts were executed by renowned poster artists of the early 20th Century but non were ever named.
This one' entitled 'Le Soleil' (the Sunflower), is said to be by Raphael Kirchner, and indeed the graphic has a real 'air' of Kirchner about it. The model looks very like his wife, whose image featured in most of his works.
Verso it reads..'Gala Peter' pour croquer le premier des chocolats au lait...(for the best tasting milk chocolate)
With some edge staining centre right and bottom left corner, and edge and corner wear it is in good Antique condition for it's age.
This is one of two beautiful lithographic postcards for Gala Peter I have listed. See RP395 for the other. They would look stunning matted and framed together.
