This beautiful and unique Silver and Blue enamel Pendant is from Italy.
It has the word Mamma on the front, an Italian message on the back and Italian Hallmarks.
Dating to pre 1971 (the Hallmarking system changed in that year) it features an engraved pretty young Art Nouveau style maiden on one edge. She comes complete with profile pose and long flowing hair and reflects the 60's and 70's obsession with the Art Nouveau era.
She is highlighted by the addition of a deep blue enamel and the simple word 'Mamma'.
On the back is an Italian phrase 'tu per me sei..', which roughly translated I believe means 'You are my one and only'. A very touching message to a loved Mother.
The tiny bale is marked 211 AR 925 (the Argentia Italiani Hallmarks depicting the jeweller's number, AR for the Province of Arezzo and the silver content 925). The back bears the letters DEP, short for depose (registered)..making it a registered Italian item made for the export market with a patented design.
Measuring 1" x 3/4" it was bought in Rome, comes in the original box, and could be worn as either a pretty small pendant or a statement charm.
