This amazing Pendant is fashioned from a World War II Australian Silver Coin.
Dated 1941 it is a Florin and features the head of Britain's King George VI on one side and a Kangaroo and an Emu standing each side of a Shield against a background of golden wattle branches on the other. The shield represents the 6 Australian states.
Minted in Melbourne it is made of 92.5 Sterling Silver and 7.5 Copper.
It has an added bale to be worn as a Pendant and these coin Pendants were 'all the rage' at the beginning of the war.
FYI: The Australian Florin coin was first minted in 1910 and was worth 24 Pence (two Shillings) in what we now refer to as 'old money' (prior to Decimalization of our currency in 1966)
The Vintage condition is very good.
The chain in the photo is for display purposes only and does not come with the Pendant.
