With an Etruscan Revival influence in the design, this unique enamelled brass scarf clip dates to c1930 and was made in France.
Fashioned from brass it features an enamelled design of a central flower surrounded by stylized leaves in white, green, black very deep red and rust.
It is marked BREVETE SGDG on the reverse and contrary to popular belief this is not a Hallmark but is simply the French word for Patented followed by 'Sans Garantie Du Government'...which was by law printed on all French made items with a legal patent between 1844 and 1968..especially those made for export. It relates to the clip mechanism and not the decorative front.
The circular clip back snaps closed securely and with some tiny enamel loss to the outer leaves it is in good Vintage condition.
