Fashioned from a base metal with a 1-20-10K yellow gold fill, this lovely hinged bangle dates to c1880.
With a detailed engraved floral design against a textured background, the fine black enamelling has uniformly worn away, leaving a faint tracery around the design. This creates pleasing highlights and, in my opinion, enhances the Antique look of the piece. In contrast, the fine black enamel detail around the edges of the bangle is still intact. It is marked 1-20-10K GOLD FILLED 18D.
The hinge allows a 2" opening and is in very good condition, as is the fine link safety chain, and the hidden safety clasp snaps closed securely.
With an oval shape which makes it easier to wear than a round bangle..it measures 2 1/2" x 2 3/8" and is 5/8" wide.
Although some of the enamel has worn away from the design..the etched floral detail is beautiful and the gold fill is in very good condition both inside and outside. Over-all the Antique condition is good.
