This is the second of a pair of Art Nouveau Revival Festoon Necklaces I have had since the 1970's.
In a bold Art Nouveau design, it is fashioned from fabulous Alfonse Mucha style French Brass stamped Findings, Venetian art glass and plain deep red Czech glass beads.
The findings are in various filigree designs of flowers, shields and Ancient Goddesses (including Circe), and wrap around the various beads in a very Art Nouveau/early Czech fashion. The findings are connected by a lovely dual link brass chain finished with a parrot clasp detailed with a single Venetian glass bead. The Venetian glass beads have applied glass color or millefiori flower patterns, and the plain red beads are faceted.
Many of the findings, beads and bead caps are original to the Art Nouveau era c1900, but as the necklace has no identifying marks I am listing as 1970's Nouveau Revival.
This is a large, statement necklace measuring 21" end to end (from the final bead to the parrot clasp) and the festoon (central drop) falls 8".
As it has been stored in a box for 40 years the beads could do with a polish and the brass has developed a natural aged patina. The Vintage condition is very good.
