Created in the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) as it was known from 1949 until 1990..these lovely Garnet Drop Dangle Earrings date to c1960.
Displayed on their original mount and marked 'made in West Germany' they are faintly Hallmarked on the scalloped screw backs. The marks seem to read 9ct and the quality is certainly high, but my jeweller tells me they are a high quality 9ct gold plated. Apparently a common practice with Garnet jewelry during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The Garnets were most probably mined in Czechoslovakia (once known as Bohemia) and securely claw set.
Each earring features three lovely matched faceted Garnets delicately framed on a fine drop setting.
Measurements are 2 1/4" in length and the Garnets measure 1/4" at their widest point. The Vintage condition is very good.
