Antique (Meiji Period c1900) Purple Pure Silk Crepe Japanese Furisode Kimono with Embroidered and Hand painted Floral design and Gold thread embellishment.
On a background of Deep clear purple Jacquard Silk crepe with a self pattern of wheels..this beautiful and bold Antique Furisode Kimono features a mix of Chrysanthemum (Kiku), Citrus (Tachibana), Peonies (Botan), Maple Leaves (Momiji) and unusually..Daffodils...in varying shades of peach, white, yellow, orange, rust, green, black, red and blue.
The beautiful floral design is a mix of Hand painting and Embroidery and is embellished richly all over with the addition of Hand painted gold detailing. And a Gold painted Family Crest, which, according to my research is a Traditional Samurai Crest.
The lining is of deep cream silk and the original tacking and hand stitching is still in place.
With some slight age related discoloration to the lining the Furisode is in Good Antique condition and has not been dry cleaned.
Traditionally Kimono have no sizing..but the measurements are Entire Width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 50 1/2", Body Width 25", Length 62 1/2" and Sleeve Depth (Sodetake) 30".
