This sumptuous and simply stunning Silk crepe Kimono features Hand Painted Birds and Flowers, all detailed with fine gold paint.
Dating to the 1940's this beautiful Kimono is crafted from a warm beige pure silk crepe fabric with a cloud pattern in palest pink. This is decorated with a stunning array of hand painted flowers in shades of green, pink, yellow, white, blue, orange, aqua, rust, peach, mushroom, mauve fuschia and grey. The hand painted detailing on the flowers and leaves is superb. With the colors shading from palest to deepest. This pattern is enhanced by the addition of large Oriental Phoenix birds in shades of blue, rose, mauve and pink with white tails detailed in gold.
This is one for the boudoir. Either to be worn for pure glamour, draped over a lovely chair or hung as a display against a bare wall.
Kimono traditionally have no sizing but the Body Width 50 1/2", Entire Width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 63 1/2" and Length 63 1/4".
The silk is in fine condition with no tears or shattering. There is one age mark on the right shoulder.
The pure silk lining is a mix of pale Buttercup yellow and pastel pink. It has a scattering of small age spots.
The Kimono has not been dry cleaned and is in very good Vintage condition.
