Dating to the end of the Meiji era (1868-1912) c1910 is this beautiful and superbly colored pure silk Furiside Kimono.
The embossed and figured silk is tie dyed in pastel shades of aqua, palest green, cream, mushroom, yellow, apricot and purple and features an amazing pattern of clouds hand painted in gold and silver and enhanced further with gold braid embroidery.
With a pastel cream silk lining, edged in palest aqua, it is a truly amazing Furisode Kimono with some original and tacking stitches still in place.
The Furisode is the most formal style of kimono, worn by un-married Japanese ladies and distinguished by the length of the sleeves.
Traditionally kimono have no sizing but the measurements are Entire width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 51", Body width 25 1/2", Length 63 1/2" and sleeve depth 39".
The kimono has not been dry cleaned and with some faint age discoloration on the lining is in very good Antique condition.
