From the very first edition of the L'Estampe Moderne lithographic series..issued in May 1897..comes this exquisite limited edition stone Lithograph entitled 'Femme du Riff' (Berber Woman).
By the iconic Orientalist French painter Louis-Auguste Girardot (1856-1933), it is signed and dated upper right in the print.
It features a beautiful young Arab woman in her robes, She looks straight at the artist and her beauty shines through the image.
The colors are varying shades of yellow, rust, grey and white on a deep cream ground, and show the Japanese influence that was so popular at the turn of the last century.
In limited edition of 1050 this stunning lithograph measures 12" by 16" full sheet and the image is 9" x 12".
Bearing the official 'blind' stamp of authenticity it is published by Champanois, Paris.
L'Estampe Moderne series consisted of 5 original lithographs, published monthly in a cover by Alphonse Mucha between 1897 and 1899. The original price was 3 francs 50 centimes.
With a small tear top centre, some foxing in the margin and slight discoloration in the right margin where it was stored with other lithographs, it is in good Antique condition.
