By the iconic Art Nouveau Symbolist artist and illustrator Georges de Feure (1868-1943) is this stunning and rare color Typogravure from the French Magazine Figaro Illustre.
Entitled 'Femme Fleurs' it features the same beautiful red headed model as in my listing NN303 (Retour), and shows her surrounded by gorgeous flowers against a background of a Paris street scene with two men fighting. De Feure's works often juxtaposed beauty against reality and this wonderful illustration typifies his Symbolic style.
Printed by Goupil et Cie, Paris it dates to 1900, and was created for de Feure's exhibition at the Exposition Universelle de Paris, in 1900.
Printed on semi gloss medium weight paper it measures 16" x 12" full sheet and the image is 13" x 8 1/2".
With a miniscule corner loss lower right it is in very good Antique condition.
The process of Typogravure was a half-tone photomechanical process, introduced by Michel Manzi in France in 1882. Based on block printing and allowing up to 20 colors to be printed at one time, it was used exclusively in Paris.
