It is a delight to see an original filigree Locket from the early part of the 20th century. There are so many reproductions and re-purposed pieces around.
This lovely locket dates to c1900 and although not hallmarked is most probably Bohemian (early Czech) in origin. The beautifully designed back has all the marks of an early Czech piece and is one of several pieces of Bohemian jewelry I found in an estate auction.
Inside are two very old photographs. One of an elderly man reading a newspaper and holding a dogs chain lead. The other is of his darling white short haired terrier dog.
The original hinge works perfectly and the locket closes securely with a snap.
The front has one tiny green glass stone as central focal decoration and including the small original loop bale it measures 1 1/4" x 1 3/4".
The brass has a lovely patina of age and just enough wear to the delicate reverse pattern to make give it an authentic provenance.
The Antique condition is good.
