By the Swiss artist Robert Ruepp and edited by Armad Geurinet, Paris is this rare and beautiful original Chromolithographic illustration from Le Journal de la Decoration, published quarterly in Paris between 1890 and 1899.
Entitled simply 'Panneau Decoratif' (Decorative Panel), from an Original Water color, and printed c1890, it is from the 'X111me Annee' (Thirteenth Issue) of the Journal and features a lovely young girl in a stunning Art Nouveau gown. She is admiring her garden full of stylized flowers set against a background of arches and woods and framed in typical organic Art Nouveau fashion with trailing vines and flowers. In pastel shades of grey, pink, peach, fawn and green it is delicate and beautiful.
Robert Ruepp is perhaps best known for his unique and beautiful Art Nouveau textile designs. His Paris showroom was at the hub of La Belle Epoque style and he was a featured exhibiter at the Paris Exposition of 1900.
Numbered Plate 16, it measures 14" x 10" and with some slight age discoloration and a tiny tear on the bottom margin edge is in good Antique condition.
