Burne-Jones Art Nouveau English Decorative Arts Annual Journal 1900.
With the full title 'The Easter Art Annual: the Decorative Art of Sir Edward Burne-Jones, Baronet', this very rare paper cover Art magazine was an Extra Number of the famous 'Art Journal'.
Published in London in 1900 by H Virtue and Co. Ltd, it was written by Aymer Vallance and presents a cross section of the stained glass window designs and artworks of the famed Pre-Raphaelite artist..Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones (1833-1898).
With 32 total pages it has an advertising section at the front promoting..Rowlands Macassar Oil to restore the hair..Cocoatina-Queen of Cocoas and Oatzmann & Co, fine furniture of Hamstead Road...among many others.
The Burne-Jones artwork prints include..'Christs's Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem', various 'cartoons' for stained glass window designs and a tapestry design for 'The Passing of Venus'. All are provided by the Berlin Photographic Company and an order form is included to become a subscriber to 'The Works of Sir Edward Burne-Jones'.
The cover bears a stamp upper right 'Bibliotheque Lynne Thornton', is tattered around the edges and affixed with very old tape to the body of the magazine. All internal pages have some varying edge damage and pages 9-12 are loose.
The condition is only fair..but the magazine is extremely rare and I can only find reference to it in the catalogues of a few Museums.
