Commemorative Hallmarked Silver Jubilee Locket 1977 Queen Elizabeth II.
A very large and beautifully Hallmarked English sterling silver Locket issued in 1977 to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II.
Because it is a commemorative piece the Hallmarks form part of the etched floral design on the front and the maker's initials RWW stand for Robert Welch.
Other marks are: an Anchor for the assay office of Birmingham, England: the Lion for silver quality (925 sterling): the Queen's head..which in this position signifies it was especially commissioned to celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee.
The hinge opens and closes easily, the clasp closure is secure, and the original red card insert is still intact.
The reverse has a small dent, but the front has no damage and is in fab condition.
There were many commemorative items issued to celebrate the Silver Jubilee, but souvenirs of this exceptional quality are very rare.
A great place to put photos of your loved ones, and measuring 2" x 1 3/4" (excluding the large bale), it is a substantial locket and would look terrific on a Vintage silver chain (not included).
