Antique Hand Colored French Engraving 'Bleuettes' 1844.
Crafted by French artist Jules Champagne, printed by Lemercier, Paris, and colored by Anais Cohn, this beautiful hand colored engraving was simultaneously published by H Gache, rue de la Victoire, Paris..W Paterno Vienna and by Anaglyphic Co, Oxford St, London.. in 1844.
Entitled 'Bleuettes' it features two beautiful ivory skinned French maidens. One quietly contemplates a book, while the other contemplates the artist. The definition of Bleuette is "a small finely written book".
Measuring 15" x 10 3/4" full sheet and 9 3/4" x 7 3/4" image it is finished with an outline of hand gilding.
There are some edge and corner bumps and small losses, and some edge discoloration that do not affect the image or written detail.
The Antique condition is very good.
