French Salon de Paris Signed Salome Artist Postcard.
From the Salon de Paris series of artwork postcards comes this beautiful example by the famous French Symbolist Gaston Bussiere (1862-1928).
Entitled simply 'Salome', it depicts the Biblical temptress as she dances the dance of the seven veils. By the look of her almost naked body she has already removed all seven!
This was originally inspired by Oscar Wilde's play 'Salome' first published in 1891.
Bussiere was very partial to this dancer's pose and to Peacock feather headdresses, as both can be found in his other vibrant works.
Signed lower right, it is issued by SDP, Luxachrome, A Noyer, Paris, it is numbered 152, is clean verso and in good Antique condition.
I have listed another 'Salome' postcard today..see NN527.
