Louis Icart Signed Art Deco French Etched Menu 1934.
With an etched cover design by the iconic French artist Louis Icart (1880-1950), this beautiful personalized Menu was issued in Saffraenberg, Belgium in 1934.
The illustration is hand color enhanced and features a beautiful Art Deco woman with a large Spanish style red fan. She is accompanied by two little naked putti..one with a bow and quiver of arrows and the other holding a crate of champagne. The name Ayala is emblazoned on both the crate and the red fan.
Ayala is a French Champagne house founded in 1860.
With a hand written menu list inside and the name of the diner..Monsieur Leon Hye.. also hand written on the cover, it was printed in Paris by Schneider et Cie, Graveurs.
Measuring 5 1/2" x 7", the subject has a strong plate mark and measures 3 1/4" x 4 1/2".
Signed in the plate lower right it is printed on hand made paper and with some age discoloration to the right hand margin and a small wine splash lower right (neither of which affect the illustration).
A truly unique item by an iconic artist. It is in good Vintage condition.
