Signed Toulouse-Lautrec 'May Milton' Engraving 1920.
From 'Lautrec', published in a limited edition of 150 in 1920 by the French journalist and art critic Theodore Duret (1838-1927), comes this fine Engraving by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1865-1901) entitled 'May Milton'.
Immortalized by Toulouse-Lautrec, May Milton was an English dancer renowned for her lack of beauty and her romance with French stage star Jane Avril. She starred at the Moulin Rouge for only a year and then moved to New York and was never heard of again. Lautrec did several drawings of May Milton and this Art Deco Engraving is from his original portrait in oil. See the last picture.
