Original Signed Antique French Lithograph 'Jeux de Fillettes' L'Estampe Moderne series 1898.
This is one of the most rare original French lithographs from the iconic series L'Estampe Moderne'. .issued in Paris between 1897 and 1899, and is part of a limited edition issue of 1050.
Executed by the renowned French Orientalist painter Alphonse Etienne Dinet (1861-1929) especially and exclusively for inclusion in the L'Estampe series, it features a group of young Algerian women and is entitled 'Jeux de Fillettes a Laghouat' (Girls Games in Laghouat).
Published in May 1898, it is part of the 13th issue and I happen to have all 4 lithographs from that issue listed at the moment..see NN302, NN194 and RP346.
Laghouat is the capital of Laghouat province in Algeria and the name means 'Oases'.
As with all L'Estampe Moderne series lithographs the colors are wonderful.
Printed by Campenois, Paris it bears the 'blind' stamp of authenticity lower right.
Measuring 16" x 12" it has its original tissue cover.
With some slight edge loss lower right and age spotting verso and to the margins (which looks worse in the photos than it actually is and will frame out once matted), it is none the less a very rare lithograph and in good Antique condition.
