This lovely old large Poster is an Athena Edwardian Revival, printed in London in 1976, and not an Edwardian original..but the printing methods in 1976 used the same techniques as the Antique originals of 1910 and give an opportunity to acquire a beautiful copy at a fraction of the price of an original..which sell now at auction for as much as 5 or 10 thousand dollars.
It features a lovely Edwardian lady in the height of 1910 fashion with a stunning hat made of peacock feathers. Her gown is of velvet, embroidery and fur and a matching cape adorns her shoulders. She is seated on a Regency stripe carved couch and the entire picture is in varying and beautiful shades of aqua and beige.
It is a fashion supplement to the French high fashion magazine 'La Femme Chic'...numbered 12 Pl. 20... and it is signed by the artist Souche.
Originally printed by J Bas of Paris it showcases fashion created by the famous French couturiers Martial et Armand and entitled 'Toilette d'Apres-Midi'.
Measuring 23 1/2" x 34" it has some damage bottom left corner and a small tear upper right corner. As well as some general edge creasing. All consistent with the age and extreme rarity of the poster. These will 'frame out'
I have been collecting Antique and Vintage posters for more than 50 years and have never seen this one anywhere else.
