This lovely vintage Haori (kimono coat) dates to the late Showa period (c1970) and is fashioned from a flawless deep black semi matt silk crepe in wonderful condition.
The hand embroidered floral design is of vibrant red silk thread.
The flower resembles the Warratah (emblem of my home state of NSW, Australia) but is a stylized chrysanthemum.
The centre of the flower is hand painted with silver highlights, as is the family crest.
The cream silk lining as a beautiful jacquard (self) pattern of swarming butterflies and is also in wonderful vintage condition with one faint watermark on the inside right front panel.
Traditionally Haori have no sizing but the measurements are Entire width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 52" Body width 26" and Length 32 1/4".
The Haori has not been dry cleaned.
