This breathtaking embroidered and hand painted silk Tomasode dates to the Art Deco era c1930.
Fashioned from a high quality heavy black silk crepe it is richly decorated with hand painted, applique and embroidered Kiku (chrysanthemums), Momijii (maple leaves) and Kinkoma (gold embroidery).
The colors are a rich deep rust, ochre, yellow, beige, white, mauve, turquoise, orange, blue..all brilliantly highlighted with heavy gold embroidery. The design is traditionally continuous across the seams from right front to left front.
This is a formal Tomasode with 5 family crests silk screened onto the fabric.
Traditionally kimono have no sizing but the measurements are Entire width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 50" Body width 25" and Length 61".
The Tomasode has not been dry cleaned and with some age discoloration to the lining is in very good Vintage condition.
