This simply stunning pure silk Japanese Furisode (kimono with extra long deep sleeves), is crafted from the finest pure white jacquard silk, figured with a beautiful woven pattern of flowers in spring shades of pink, pale blue, green, beige, yellow and tan..finely outlined with hand applied gilding and hand finished with over embroidery on some of the flower petals. It dates to mid twentieth century c1960.
The pure silk lining is white with a fine orange edging which compliments the floral pattern perfectly.
The Furisode is the most formal style of kimono traditionally worn by un-married women and distinguished by its long sleeves. Always fashioned from exquisitely decorated pure silk they are usually very expensive and often hired by modern Japanese families for their daughters to wear at their coming of age ceremony when they turn 20.
Traditionally kimono have no sizing but the measurements are Entire width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 51 1/4" Body width 25 1/4" and Length 63 1/2".
The Furisode has not been dry cleaned and with a couple of very small discoloured spots is in very good Vintage condition.
