This lovely silk crepe Haori has a true black background and a unique woven pattern of a Japanese village and dates to the Art Deco era c1930.
It is a complete village scape with tiny houses, trees and people. There are workmen with farm implements and one is even riding a donkey, and there is a woven family crest below the collar centre back.
The colors are very Autumnal..rust, beige, white, green.. all done with a slightly iridescent thread.
The white silk lining has a self pattern of chrysanthemums.
It has never been worn and still has the original Traditional hand stitched thread over some of the seams, which of course can simply be removed.
There is some age staining to the bottom of the lining which looks far worse in the photo than it actually is and could be removed by a specialist dry cleaner.
Traditionally a Haori has no sizing but the measurements are Entire width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 54 1/4" Body width 27 1/4" and Length 33 1/2".
The Haori has not been dry cleaned.
