This simply stunning bold Homongi Kimono dates to c1950 and was made to be worn on stage for performances of the traditional Noh Musical Drama Theatre, which has been performed since the 14th Century (see last picture).
Fashioned from a vibrant deep rust/red pure silk crepe it features Japanese historical figures and performers, in both the hand painted and the woven pattern, in a variety of bold shades ranging from pure white, through beige, green and purple to deepest black. All delicately edged with hand applied gold paint.
The pure silk lining is white edged with a complimentary orange and shows some age related markings which could easily be removed and replaced.(see pictures). I have taken this into account in the reduced price.
Traditionally kimono have no sizing but the measurements are Entire width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 50" Shoulder width 24" and Length 61 1/2".
The kimono has not been dry cleaned and the Vintage condition is good.
