This simply stunning bold Homongi Kimono dates to c1950 and was made to be worn on stage for performances of the traditional Noh Musical Drama Theatre, which has been performed since the 14th Century (see picture #9).
Fashioned from a vibrant deep rust/orange pure silk crepe it features Samurai and other performers both hand painted and in the woven pattern, in a variety of bold shades ranging from pure white, through beige, green and purple to deepest black. All delicately edged with hand applied gold paint.
The pure silk lining is a crisp white edged with a complimentary orange.
Traditionally kimono have no sizing but the measurements are Entire width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) 50" Shoulder width 24" and Length 61 1/2".
The kimono has not been dry cleaned and the Vintage condition is very good.
