Vintage Pure Silk Furisode Kimono with Fans, Embroidered Highlights and Gold Painted Detail.
With a base of Chambre (blended) shades of pink, from pale to deep peach, this stunning pure silk Furisode Kimono has a background jacquard (self) pattern in a geometric design,
Over this is a fabulous array of large Folding Fans (Sensu) in a multitude of colors..from white, through cream, yellow, pale and deep green, orange and black..with occasional bold splashes of pale blue, carmine and deep aubergine purple. The Fans are offset by a garden full of blooming flowers, again in a multitude of colors.
The design is enhanced with the addition of gold braided embroidered (Kinkoma) edges to the fans and hand applied gold paint (Kinsai) highlights.
The all over pattern is continuous across the seams. A true indication of a very high quality garment.
Traditionally Kimono have no sizing but the Entire width sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip is 50 1/3", the Body width is 25 1/2", the Length is 61 3/4" and the sleeve depth (Sodetake) is 42 1/2".
Furisode means swinging sleeves and these beautiful long sleeves distinguish the garment. A Furisode is one of the most colorful and elaborate of Kimono and often features a pattern of flowers. The Furisode is the most formal style of Kimono traditionally worn by un-married women.
The lining is a mix of off white jacquard silk and pink silk crepe and the conditon is very good.
Dating to c1980 the Furisode has not been dry cleaned,
