Dating to mid last century this gorgeous Michiyuki (Japanes Kimono Coat) is fashioned from a Jacquard patterned velvet feel pure silk.
In a wonderfully deep purple shade, with a faint shimmer to it, it has a scenic self pattern of a garden with clouds, chrysanthemums, forget-me-nots, leaves and tiny bridges.
In a double breasted style it has 4 lovely covered buttons with press studs and no button holes..so can easily be altered to fit.
With a contrasting lining of deep rust-burgundy it has the original hand stitching in place and I don't think it has ever been worn.
This is not a Kimono but a Michiyuki..which is a formal 3/4 length travelling coat worn over a Kimono and as it traditionally does up left over right, it could be worn by either a man or a woman. Would look fabulous over jeans.
Traditionally Kimono have no sizing but the Entire width (sleeve-tip to sleeve-tip) is 51 1/4", the Body width is 25 1/4" and the length is 49 1/2".
It has not been dry cleaned and with no marks or damage to the beautiful fabric is in very good Vintage condition.
