Near mint used condition. Hand wrought cast iron and holds two patent dates: September 6, 1864 and April 17, 1865. That's right Civil War period! All you need is to attach the small rope or baling twine to the needle, stab a bale, hoist it to the loft and unlatch the tip to release your load. Very cool device, mechanics and craftsmanship. 40" at full extension, 35" as pictured. 9/16" thick main frame and 10" wide when extended. Here is a real piece of American Pioneer history.
